I appreciated this conversation. A few things. I have listened to Preston quite a bit, but you have to listen a lot to get a better picture of what he actually believes. I believe Preston tends to muddy the waters in his beliefs, but it could be because he invites more of a variety of opinions on his podcast and doesn’t push back much. I don’t believe Childers, Yuan, or Butterfield are trying to build a platform off criticism of Preston. Back to a main point…language and terms. If teachers don’t understand that terms are extremely important, then I think they are going to be a disservice to God ‘s kingdom in how we disciple believers coming out of lgbtq lifestyles or worldviews. This is why the pushback on CRU is important…they need to get things right, especially when it comes to their staff.

I came to Christ in 1969 in the US Air Force, went on to college & seminary and pastored in 3 different Evangelical churches. I left in 1993 after 24 years of it... I'd had enough of the narrowness & willful ignorance. That was 30 years ago and I never regretted leaving. But I continued my lifelong pursuit of "the One behind the Many" ... I found a healthier and more humane spirituality by being open to other wisdom traditions. I wrote a book about my journey that was just published by Apocryphile Press titled: "Leaving God for God." My book goes through my own personal journey with God, it's not a how-to book and not a program.... but a frank and honest search for God. The Divine Presence does not need our churches and creeds to reach us... I was surprised by how the Spirit allowed me to experience connection in deeply personal (and unconventional) ways. Sometimes you need to leave to clear the channels and be open. I've felt closer to the Presence than ever. The Evangelical church is revealing its dark shadow. I read Tim Alberta's book "The Kingdom, the Power & the Glory" it was an excellent profile of the situation. I think Evangelicals/Fundamentalists will the first ones lining up to support what they "call" the Anti-Christ.

I don't understand why this conversation about celibate gay partnerships is even a question... there's absolutely no reason to do this. It is 100% trying to mimic marriage, and that is abundantly clear by the fact that this is only happening among people who identify as gay Christians. Why don't you see straight men entering into a "covenant friendship"? Because the entire purpose of it is to flirt with the line of sin, to try to walk a tightrope of that line between practicing homosexuality and not practicing homosexuality, without falling over it. That is so dangerous and completely unbiblical to support. Paul says to FLEE from temptation. Jesus says if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. Do you really think Jesus is in support of people who have same-sex attraction getring together in a "covenant friendship," to essentially play house together and try to get the benefits of a marriage without the sexual component? Does that sound like fleeing from temptation? Or does it sound like walking right up to the edge of the line, keeping your temptation fully in sight every single day, but trying to resist giving into it? There is really no question to be discussed on this issue. It's very, very obviously wrong, unwise, and not following scripture's guidance to flee from temptation and gouge out your sin. In listening to more of Preston's work, I'm starting to see why people have a problem. You say things sometimes that are technically correct, like that you don't support a relationship like this that mimics a marriage, but at the same time, you seem far too understanding and entertain these ideas as if there might be something in there that could be good, instead of standing firm on the truth and rejecting it completely. I'm all for listening and trying to understand where people are coming from, but it just seems like the more of your videos I watch, the more it seems like you are flirting too close to the line of trying to have compassion and understanding for everything, when some things rightfully deserve to be harshly rebuked, not sympathized with.

I'm sorry, but Jared is absolutely right about the pronoun thing. Listing pronouns in your bio is, at the very *least*, an implicit endorsement of tranagender ideology and of the idea that gender is something you can choose, not something innate to your biology. Anyone can look at me and know I'm a female and therefore use she/her pronouns. There is no reason for that to need to be stated. The only reasons people overtly state their pronouns are because A) they are using pronouns that are against their biology and are therefore not what someone would naturally decide to call them, so they need to be stated, or B) they are doing it in solidarity and support of the people in category A. I don't see any other reason why someone would put pronouns in their bio. And the weird thing is, after all of this debate, Preston basically agrees... because he iintentionally doesn't list his pronouns because he says it reveals something about a view of anthropology that he doesn't agree with... which has literally been Jared's point this entire time.

Gosh, this gender/sex thing is exhausting to listen to... I don't understand what it is that Preston is not getting. How can you expect Jared to tell you a definition of gender that is different than his definition of sex if he believes they are the same thing? That is an impossible question. What you are having trouble understanding is that when Jared says people are separating gender and sex, he's putting himself in THEIR worldview. Because they DO believe that gender and sex are different. But you just keep asking him to define gender, and he's going to keep giving the same answer, because he doesn't believe there is a distinction between the two. I want to give Preston the benefit of the doubt that he just genuinely doesn't understand, but this is starting to feel either intentionally obtuse or just some kind of snarky attempt at a gotcha or a rhetorical trap or something. Because this should not be this hard to understand.

The "committed to lifelong friendship" thing is extremely concerning to me... does Preston actually argue for same-sex people entering into some kind of same-sex "comitted friendship"? That's super strange, and I completely disagree with that. Why on earth are we making "covenant friendships" a thing for same-sex attracted people to have some kind of intimacy that simulates marriage? I thought in a recent video Preston said he was not okay with this, but in this video he doesn't seem to be refuting this at all. For most of these issues, I was more on Preston's side of this discussion, but this is indeed very concerning. I don't understand why he's glossing over all of this and not addressing the actual issue. I'm about halfway through this video and I'm wondering when, or if, Preston is ever going to "circle back" to all these points he keeps saying he'll "get to." Because some of these are important issues, and I'd like to know what he thinks about it. And the "what are your pronouns" quip was such a dumb thing to say. Jared is absolutely right on that point. Even having pronouns at all in your bio IS an affirmation of trans ideology.

To say "you believe this" and to have someone tell you "no, I do not believe that, nor have I ever said that. That's a lie." And to respond with "I'll read your writings and see if you have or not" is wild... You can't just make a claim and then look for proof of it later. If you don't already have proof of it, then why did you make the claim in the first place?

Christians are rightly concerned about LGBTQ language. Language changes reality. Calling someone gay instead of same sex attracted changes the issue from a sin on my periphery that I’m struggling with, to something I’ve pulled into my centre to identify with. It’s like when God rebukes Cain, “Sin seeks to master you, but you must master it.” If you identify with a sin, it has mastered you, my friend. Repent.

Idolatry of any kind is wrong, and political is no exception. Trump is no savior. That being said, too many professing 'Christians' who are in love with the values of this world, who feel deeply wounded by God's attack on legalized abortion, enraged by the anger of their wounded gods, treat faithful brothers and sisters who are aligned with His heart to end the slaughter of the unborn, to end the forced perversion of children in public schools, and to actually do somethinv about the tr@*icking of children into the country, as if it is US and not them who have fallen into idolatry. They have become tolerant of Jezebel and they attack Christians who will not worship her with them, and for the sake of their 'compassionate friendships' they have built with those who accuse the brethren, they join into the accusations themselves. For this there will be severe punishment if there is not repentance

A response is quite appropriate, both Alisa Childers' broadcast, in which Christopher Yuan was a guest, and Preston Sprinkle's answer give impressions of true brothers and sisters in Christ. This reaction is send to both for mutual consideration. Since they being part of the Body of Christ, and within this body with the blessing of God's gifts, we stimulate each other to find the right doctrine (I Cor 14:12), and not to stray. Preston Sprinkle quotes verses that clearly indicate that the joining of man and woman is God ordained (Matthew 19:1-10). By the way, the union of man and woman is the only way of reproduction, see Gen 1:28. Christopher Yuan indicates that one will not be given occasion to sin (Matthew 18:7). In Alissa Childers' broadcast, Preston Sprinkle was mentioned a number of times with statements/confirmation of his views that may show a certain tolerance regarding the “same sex marriage”. These were rejected in his response, the video “Flourishing in Sexuality,| Preston Sprinkle of Transformation Church shows no support for this tolerance. We have to consider that Alisa Childers and her guest may have material that substantiates their opinions. Observation about “Are some temptations sinful”, the temptation can’t be considered sinful it is our, mere, response to it that matters. The truth is an essential part of Christianity, and as such it is important that both do not consider this topic closed. Brotherly hug, Abraham.

I wish there had been more actual talk about the book rather than the disappointing conversation about someone else’s critique about the book. This part of the conversation(which seemed like the majority) reminded me of the Yuan/Butterfield discussion where they discussed Preston’s beliefs without him actually being there. Maybe the gentleman from CT should have been invited to join this discussion. I was disappointed that this went in that direction when Preston doesn’t seem to like when others do this to him.

Preston, did you research this guy before you did this podcast? The irony he’s speaking about abuse of power, narcissism, scandals and coverups considering the amount of his dirty work is astounding. . You should ask why a significant split happened in renovation church. I didn’t believe it at first in 2020, but when I rejoined renovation church staff in 2023 and quit after 86 days, I knew everything they said was true. The Holy Spirit was GRIEVED. . The fact he jokingly said “put my magic on them” while having the church logo of a witchcraft magic love spell called a bind rune (which the Bible clearly speaks against) to a fraternity initiation kneeling at the altar of the great “Delphic god” - to his false doctrine, tithe challenges, morally questionable staff trips, multiple abuse scandals of his own, approval of marijuana for staff and field trips to the liquor store on staff retreats. Nothing I said was a lie or slanderous- this is true. . Pastors get away with things like this because there is NO true biblical accountability; A quick google search about this church will reveal things that have happened. I continually pray for the blinded sheep at renovation that they would WAKE UP, stop feeding this wolf and that this man will be held accountable and repent.

I know that Cru has been under attack for it but I 100% line up with things you are saying and stories are so powerful! Jesus told stories so I don't understand what is unbiblical about telling stories...

I have said this for YEARS. Men need to rough house with their sons because males have this pent up aggression that needs to be released. And it works for all the reasons he mentioned as well.

I think this was necessary. Not to get Jared to repent or even come to an understanding of where he was wrong, but rather to clarify Preston's views to folks that Jared has misled. As mentioned, his post got a lot of attention and we're in an age where people lack the skill to critically evaluate and verify claims before propagating them. And if Jared himself is doing that, you'd best believe his followers are.

As a woman who is a therapist, survival of sexual abuse and a Christian… There is a lot to unpack here. It’s OK for guys to feel fear of rejection. What we should do as a culture is teach guys how to properly interact with young women and humanity, and the distinction between real life and the Internet. We should also teach young women how to distinguish between humanity and toxicity. This man comes off as if it is the woman’s responsibility to make men feel comfortable enough to approach them instead of saying, both parties should be, careful and respectful and they engage one another.
